Hi Grade Two Students and Their Families,
Just wanted to touch base. To reply to your question in the previous email, yes, we forwarded the money we received from the students to the Canadian Bee Research Fund. I have also submitted the story to our magazine for the national industry which is printed quarterly. I believe it will be in the next issue which should be coming out in the near future. Once it does, I will have some copies sent to you. I will probably need a mailing address to get it to you as directly as possible. Within the story it provides the detail again of where the money went and possible matching donations/grants. Thanks a lot and we will be in touch. Kevin Nixon Honey Farm Chair Canadian Honey Council Earth Day is on Friday, April 22. At Edgemont school we will be learning about how to treat the earth with respect from April 18 t0 21. We will be making choices all week to show kindness to the earth and every living thing on it.
From Monday to Wednesday we are challenging students to bring a lunch that has the smallest amount of litter or garbage. Here are some possible ways to create a litter-less lunch:
We look forward to celebrating the wonderful earth we live on all week. Stay tuned for more ideas that will help us celebrate our planet. - Grade 2, Room 5 We are learning about 2-D and 3-D shapes. We have learned that a line has one dimension, a square has two dimensions, and a cube has three dimensions. Click the button below to get to a book and video called The Greedy Triangle...a book about 2-D shapes! We are learning that 2D shapes have sides, vertices, angles, and that objects all around us are made using these shapes. In particular, we are focusing on rectangles, squares, triangles, and circles. We are also learning that 3D shapes have faces, vertices, edges, angles, and are created by connecting 2D shapes. Our world is filled with 3D shapes including cubes, spheres, cones, cylinders, and pyramids. We are excited to be learning about these shapes in math and look forward to sharing our knowledge with you next week during Parent Teacher Conferences.
