We are learning about 2-D and 3-D shapes. We have learned that a line has one dimension, a square has two dimensions, and a cube has three dimensions. Click the button below to get to a book and video called The Greedy Triangle...a book about 2-D shapes! We are learning that 2D shapes have sides, vertices, angles, and that objects all around us are made using these shapes. In particular, we are focusing on rectangles, squares, triangles, and circles. We are also learning that 3D shapes have faces, vertices, edges, angles, and are created by connecting 2D shapes. Our world is filled with 3D shapes including cubes, spheres, cones, cylinders, and pyramids. We are excited to be learning about these shapes in math and look forward to sharing our knowledge with you next week during Parent Teacher Conferences.
